Oh What a Day to Dig Planting Magic and Create Our Flower Farm Dream!

There's something undeniably magical about planting days, especially when they herald the start of a flower farm dream that has been nurtured for so long. Today marked one of many planting days to come, and the excitement in the air was palpable. The preparation for this moment has been extensive. For months, we’ve been scouring seeds, studying the best flowers to cultivate, and daydreaming about the colors and scents that will eventually fill our farm. However, the real joy lies in the process—the muddy hands (not me - gloves, gloves I tell you!), the sun on our backs (and in my face - sun poisoned last year), and the shared laughter and stories as we work side by side.

Setting the Scene: A Day of Activity

The day began early, our spirits high with anticipation. With the sunrise painting the sky in hues of orange and pink, we gathered the tools, hoses, and our meticulously planned layout. Nothing could dampen our spirits; this was the day we’d start to bring our flower farm dreams to life.

While laying out the irrigation lines, we didn't have to connect the dots—literally! This year we have the soaker hoses!! So less work making sure every plant was exactly a foot apart to meet the dots on our old lines. Proper irrigation is a crucial element in gardening, especially for a flower farm, as it ensures each plant receives the care it needs to thrive.

We worked up a sweat (like always!). It was a mix of labor and love—a transformative experience that made us feel more connected to the process of creating our farm.

Designing Walkways: More than Just Paths

As we moved on to creating the pathways, it became clear how vital they are for practicality. Walkways serve not only as functional routes through our budding flower farm. The design process was made in the moment deciding what we wanted compared to last year. Notice that the pathways are made with the leftover top to the greenhouses that collapsed and blew away.

We carefully started outlining the walkways, ensuring they provided easy access to all sections of the farm to make harvesting easier. With the irrigation lines set, the walkways taken shape, and we had laid the groundwork for what would become a vibrant flower farm for 2025. There’s still much work to be done, but that's part of the excitement (and I am here for it!)!

The Journey Has Just Begun

The sun has set on this memorable planting day, I couldn’t help but feel accomplished. We’ve laid the groundwork for our flower farm and are ready for each new experience that comes our way. So here’s to many more planting days filled with magic, growth, and blossoms that tell our story.
